Return to Working with Sound

1. Open GarageBand and specify a new project (the last
project opened will be opened by default). Make sure to
navigate to your studentwork file to save your song. (Name
your song something other than "My Song".)

Click on the eye at bottom left of the panel to open the look
browser. Select a combination of descriptors to narrow the search or just browse. (You can press reset at any time to clear your song settings.) Double click the icon on the right to hear the loop.

2. Move the icon of your instrument up into the track area. You can pull on the end of the loop to extend it but be aware that sound files are very large. Do as much as you can with small loops to keep the overall file size down.

3. You can choose to apply effects to a track by selecting the track layer, then going to the "I" at the bottom of the screen. (If asked to save, name this instrument and continue.)

4. To adjust your track to fade in and out you will need to go to "Track > Show Master Track". Grab and pull on points on the volume control (purple line) to adjust volume throughout the track.
