Adding Sound to your Flash Project

1. Open Sound Studio. Go to the record button and, when you are ready,
press record. It looks like this:

2. When you have recorded what you want, hit the stop button. For either recording or opening you will see the file in the channel bars. While recording you can adjust the input levels to control your recording. Look under “Window” and scroll down to “Input levels”. Don’t worry if you make mistakes. Just trim them out by selecting the unwanted area and hitting the delete key. This will pop up:

3. Next you can manipulate the sound by using any of the effects in the filter menu. When you have finished modifying your file, go to the file bar and select “save as” and then you can choose the type of file that you need to save it as. Aiff is the original file format. Aiff-C is a compressed version and mp3 is even more compressed.

4. Now you have to import your sound to Flash. Open your .fla file. Go to File >Import >Import to library and import your clip.

5. Make a new layer to contain your sound. Place a blank keyframe on your timeline where you want to hear sound - a good choice if your want your sound to line up with a specific action - or you can create a blank keyframe on the first frame of the layer and play sound all the way through. This works well with music that you want to hear as background. Pull the sound from the library into that keyframe.

6. Open the properties panel and select loop or tell Flash how many times you want your music to play.
